Curt, keeping it no secret ---- I am currently trying to review it :)
I got the game by Saturday morning, installed it and now I am still reading the manual and playing around with the tutorial.
I am also paying quite some attention here, reading the reviews from others and the review of these reviews from you guys. But please bear with me, I had no previous experience of ATF, so the entire system and concepts are new to me. It took me about 1 month each to master (that means being able to play reasonably good) TOAW, CS and CMBB. It will probably also take me this long for RT. And before that, I would probably not write any reviews.
The reason is that I think for non-grognards, the review (or more precisely, bashing) from those quoted here were enough. It is quite clear that the game is not for casual beer-and-click gamers, who should play red alert instead.
And it is different for a addicted wargamer ---- and different between those who had ATF experience and those who do not. I apparently belong to the latter. I already feel that it will still be a steep learning curve for me (a veteran of many wargames and games in general) and I would not expect it to be easier to many others. So this part (learning curve) will be one thing I would describe in the review. And then the second part would be a feeling of the concepts in RT --- from a gamer's point of view (vs. from a "historian's" review who would demand more for reality). I would probably pay more attention to play balance and designs. And then thirdly, I would, if you guys like, compare the feeling of playing RT (/ATF) to playing other games alike (TOAW, CS, CMBB) --- well, not quite alike, but to figure out their strength and differences.
And a summary on the "elegance" of the game: interface, graphics, controls. .etc. ... which is less important more or less to a grognard.
Will that be ok for you guys? Any other questions you'd like to see the answers? Any suggestions?
Thanks.

You review the game as you feel best - no one else should have any influence. I'm glad you are actually taking the time to learn the game before writing about it, as some reviewers haven't done so, and it isn't fair to the makers of the game or the gaming public.
Remember, you should not be out to please anyone but yourself, knowing you did a thorough and complete job!
Good luck, and I hope you get a chance to enjoy RT after your work is finished!
Curt
