KAnyone heard from him lately? The file went out yesterday so it should be starting soon.

I can do it as well - send me the file, please! I finished the last battle with bad results, maybe now I will be able to bring some success! So I am taking over

I started to advance, no enemy in sight. The town is heavily fortified, this war is becoming like WW1 - trench systems and amorphous masses of infantry taking and retaking them. There is less and less special equipment, only infantry. This is going to be bloody business, I am afraid.

Katusa
10 Oct 04, 16:32
Frist contact with the enemy! I reached their line of defense, heavy small-arms fire, some casualties. My boys seem tougher, they rout the enemy. Tanks are pondering their positions as well.

Katusa
11 Oct 04, 04:03
I am advancing, the first firefights seem to be decided in favor of my troops. Ohh, ****! I lost a tank from a Carl Gustav hit, fired by a support squad hiding so far. I spotted a T-54 farther away in the town, I will hit it with artillery.

Katusa
11 Oct 04, 07:40
We are slowly advancing, heavy exchange of fire at the entrance of the valley, leading into the town. Numerous casualties on both sides - neither mortar, nor small arms fire coupled with RPGs seem to break them.

Katusa
12 Oct 04, 09:42
I lost the MTLB - the bastards aim very well with M20 and Carl Gustav. I cannot break this impasse at the entrance. My southern troops took casualties from 120 mm mortars, they seem to be spotted. Things do not go well, I am advancing too slow at a cost too heavy.

Katusa
12 Oct 04, 12:18
Maybe finally we overcome the entrance of the valley. This is tough, there is only one platoon in front of us, but they are positioned so well that they can hold a reinforced company!

Katusa
12 Oct 04, 16:31
We are still attacking, very slowly gaining ground. I wish that the southern force elements arrived, we could break into the town finally. I pay with 3-5 soldiers for every 50 meters gained, nevertheless, I push forward. Until I get close to the trenches I cannot kill them effectively.

Katusa
13 Oct 04, 04:42
I lost my last tank, they counterattack from the south! This commander is crazy, attacking instead of defending. My troops were not prepared for this. Nevertheless, my spearhead on the road continues to advance. I will break into the town in a few turns - but casualties running high. (On both sides.) Rather confusing picture.

Katusa
13 Oct 04, 10:21
I am taking over government positions, they were finally routed! It is a bloody mess, there are many units engaged in close-quarters fighting - this is tough, I am not sure how long my forces could advance. Artillery is hitting me, it slows me down and causes casualties. I wish I had more artillery, to suppress their batteries.

Katusa
14 Oct 04, 04:38
I broke into the enemy lines, taking over trenches. The enemy is running, my troops shoot them from the trenches! Victory is at hand, it seems to me that they had only 2 companies of troops defending this place.

Katusa
14 Oct 04, 08:13
I killed an immobilised government T-54, it was stuck in one of the trenches. We also managed to destroy a few decimated infantry squads completely. My attack is moving again, now I have to keep up pressure so that they can not form a new line of defense. They are running, we will take the city by the end of the battle.

Katusa
16 Oct 04, 12:13
I am pusruing the enemy. There is sporadic fire from the city centre, looks like this defense had some depth. Nevertheless, my troops will take over this place by turn 20.

Katusa
17 Oct 04, 11:01
As my forces move on, they receive more and more fire. Artillery is also zeroed on them, we suffer heavy casualties. Trenches shield us somehow, but it is still raging on. Looks like there are enemy reinforcements in the town. Is it possible that they escaped from the blocking force east of us, and they reached the town? There is still fighting ahead, my mortar batteries are low on ammo, they are adjusting their fire to the city centre. Looks like we still have fighting ahead.

Katusa
18 Oct 04, 08:07
My force in the town in full strenght. We are mopping up pockets of resistance, however, it is clear now that the town centre has another line of resistance-they are dug in as well, and pretty dense. It looks like we have to fight again like at the entrance. I dont think I will have the time to finish it.

The company that broke in through the road is eliminated, remnants are fighting with the remnants of the government blocking force.

My southern force is almost intact, taking the first line of trenches in the town, but they receive large volume of fire, so advancing slowly with casualties.

My northern force is stuck in the first road junction-it is barricaded, as well as receiving fire from trenches; but the real problem is enemy artillery, it is hitting them very hard, my casualties mount like hell.

I wish I had some armored elements, now in the town centre they would have some chance to manouver, and maybe to bypass.

I see two 60mm mortar sections, one in the town centre, the other is further north. I will try to take them out.

Next turn I will need reinforcements to completely sweep them out of the town.

Katusa
19 Oct 04, 15:17
I am pushing ahead with high casualties. Mortars are running low on ammo, but they create some suppression.

Katusa
20 Oct 04, 08:21
Pretty much the same, I am organizing a second line so that they can cover the attack of the first one. There is an open space for 300 m after the first row of houses before we reach trenches again, and it is hard to get through this open space. Maybe this second line of squads with its SAW and RPG fire would help.

There is still fighting at the entrance, depleted squads chase each other. I lost some squads completely, as my opponent did.

My northern force bogged down, there is too much artillery bearing on them.

Katusa
20 Oct 04, 13:22
We gained some territory again, it looks like my squads have greater firepower than government ones. The enemy is suppressed, which means my forces can advance. This idea of having covering teams in trenches while other units are assaulting looks like a working one.

I started to shoot up one of their mortars, it should be killed in the next few turns.

The mayors' office is in sight, we may take it by the end.

Katusa
21 Oct 04, 07:24
My forces reached the doorsteps of the mayor's office! The enemy has withdrawn behind the next row of buildings, enabling more of my forces to cross the open zone. The enemy mortar was killed. Are they feeing?

Katusa
21 Oct 04, 17:52
The enemy counterattacking again, pushing me back from the office building. However, my second line (my fire base) stops them quickly. Casualties on both sides.

In the north we bogged down completely, there is some random shooting, my mortars firing smoke-this may help, however, I have no time.

At the road enemy is eliminated, but my remaining force so weak, they cannot advance any more.

It is going to be a stalemate, I guess...

Katusa
24 Oct 04, 11:58
I finished my last turn pushing back the enemy slightly, my troops are holding half of the mayors office. I feel that given a few more turns, I could have pushed them back even more, but now this is a draw. My troops will dug in for the night, and wait for the next turn to resume the attack and sweep the enemy from the town completely.
