Do you mean you'd like to fight it or that your not sure about your troop strength?
It seems that that the forces intended to help rid the town of rebels is now going to have to fight to get there.

And a jolly good job they did too. I like our chances at this point its just a matter of grinding them down now. ;)
I would defend the city, I mean. Rebs should have distracted some forces to N and some to east of the town, so they should be about equal with what we have inside. We have mortar support, and entrenched positions. Should not be a problem holding against them.
This 3-front fighting will grind them down.

Briefing and Mission posted. Who will take this for the Pro-Government Team?
I will send the deploy file as soon as I get a commander designated for it.
I'll do it. Send them to me (remember, my address has changed before the last battle, so use the address you used last time!)

I have only one question, where in God,s name are they getting all this equipment? lolWell, if this one is "large", how big do you think the other 2 really are? :smoke:
Also, please remember that enemy information in the "Briefings" is estimated, projected, guesses or any combination of all 3.

I'll do it. Send them to me (remember, my address has changed before the last battle, so use the address you used last time!)On the way. As soon as you get it back to me I will convert it to a PBEM game for you and your opponent. Your opponent will be moving first.
I can see three T-54s on the road, leading to the town (what is the name of the place? I will call it Glozga.) of Glozga, packed with infantry, MG, and scouts. No other enemy unit in sight so far.
Some enemy units are seen from the East - I return fire, killing/routing some of them. My forces are dug-in well, this defense will be all right.
I am being bombarded by mortars, but no casualties. We fire bursts on enemy infantry, but they swarm from everywhere in the North-Western corner like a humanwave. Nevertheless, my platoon at the curve of the road holds well, they have good interlocking fields of fire. I killed a tank by opfire, they are too bold - maybe they think we are weaker then we actually are.
Much the same, they seem to advance from the East. I move my troops from the Western perimeter into the centre of the town, we form a second line of defense there in the trenches. Intensifying bombardment of forward positions.
Opfire killed an MTLB, they are edging closer, but most of the turn is aimless shooting, bombarding, killing. No place to manouver, they just come, we grind them - this is really boring. :nervous:
My infantry killed another T-54. It came too close, and a brave counterattack stopped it forever! The enemy seems to be disturbed, at least this is how I interpret this miserable attampt to overrun my position with a direct tank charge.
Still heavy exchanges of fire everywhere. My second line is forming up, so if they break through, they just would run into another line, almost as good as the previous one. (Trenches are full with infantry.)
My T-54 stuck into a trench, too bad, but at least it can fire at infantry. I wanted to counterattack with it, there is a gap between the two enemy infantry companies, I wanted to slip through and destroy mortars in the rear areas. Now it wont happen. :(

Good work Waape, Rebels have dark days ahead after this opt 5 turn sequence.
Strong artillery strike, now they bring everything on me! I dont know whether I can hold the North-West corner of the town. The area is wooded, I have little trenches there, and at least a battalion is pushing my 2-platoon force.
I target them with artillery as well, it would at least slow them down.
The northern outpost is collapsing, there is at least a battallion on it. I am pulling back to the second line of defense here, running accross the town centre. I use artillery to hold back attackers and cover my retreat. There are too many of them, and their AK-47 is just a better weapon than our M-16s. Nevertheless, I am confident, they would run out of steam before taking the city centre.
We have to retreat, under dense enemy fire - suffering great losses. At least two enemy companies are coming from South-West. I am retreating there as well, to prevent being outflanked. My hope is in my second line, remnants of the first line will estabilish all-around perimeter defense, to break up enemy formations before they reach the second line. I should hold by the end of the battle.
We are still retreating. The second line will have to stop this charge. I hope things are going well East of us, I will need those companies to launch a counterattack next turn, or hold against their renewed attack.
We should ask the UN, if possible to cut the Rebels from reinforcing themselves. They should block the route from A to G. Meanwhile, if Task Force Skirmisher arrives, we can counterattack the Rebels. They already hold a few dug-in positions, I wont be able to eject them from these in this battle - however, I am confident that we can hold the mayor's office in the town centre.
My troops are holding on a few remaining strongpoints that are still in our hands from the first line. They, together with artillery are trying to cover the retreat of their comrades.
The enemy broke into our trenches, these remaining positions have to fight into three directions. I hope that the bulk of the forces will make it into the second ditch, sacrificing a few squads.
Things are tough, this battle is concluding into a draw or minor defeat: however, the enemy is suffering terrible losses, so their victory, if ever, would be a rather Pyrrhic one. They push forward anyway, I really admire their strenght and the boldness of their commander. (He might have lost sight of overall objectives however, allowing losses this big to happen.)
More retreat, but I my second line is conslodated. Looks like my opponent is not aware of the fact that I have an intact line, he is trying to shoot up the few remaining squads running from the first line. Mortar duel.
There was not too much, I was pushed back, loosing a mortar team. On the south we stand on two sides of the big building, the enemy appears the strongest here. Hopefully they did not have the time to push ahead.
In the centre, half of the mayors office is taken, half is hold by us. I have good defenses here, they could not break though. I caused heavy casualties to them slowing down their advance.
Further north, around the road we annihilated each other pretty much: I have hardly any troops left here, while the enemy has only a few pinned and battered squads, unable to take advantage of my open lines.
In the northern corner the strong enemy force was decimated by mortar fire, they suffered enermous losses, a few of my squads could hold them. However, as we run out of ammo, this place could have been hard to keep. They also used smoke here to enable them swifter movement.
So fighting is over with a draw, hideous losses on both sides, we are diggning in, waiting for the reinforcements. Hopefully I receive some, while the UN can break rebels from their supply base. Next turn we will continue fighting for the city, possibly with a counterattack sweeping the city out.
(But I will ask somebody else to do it, for me this barbaric killing was quite enough, I feel like a battalion commander after the No.X Battle of the Marne; or Verdun, for that matter. :OHNO: )
