Which is your favorite Battlefield Era?

In case you don't know-

BF: 1942= Battlefield 1942
BF: V= Battlefield Vietnam
BF: 2= Battlefield 2

Eve of Destruction and Desert Combat are popular mods for BF: 1942

I still like bf'42 the best, just because after that navies were basically useless.

I've only played BF1942 so far, but I hope to play the others soon.

Excellent observation. I really hadn't thought about it, but in BF: 1942 the giant destroyers would pound the coast and the aircraft carriers would distribute planes; but in the other games the naval forces really aren't that great...

I love being the destroyer in the Midway map. You just sail back and forth between the enemy destroy and Aircraft Carrier, sinking them as they respawn. I you are in ship to ship combat W/O a rear gunner, just switch between the two by pressing 1, shooting, press 2, shoot a volley, get back into 1 just as it finishes reloading, etc.

would be interesting to see if they come up with a bf 1863 or something similar to that

I think it would be pretty hard to have a first person shooter, especially a battlefield game, taking place during the civil war. Muskets firing 4 rounds a minute and very few drivable vehicles, really wouldn't make this into the type of battlefield game we are accustomed to.

It would make an interesting mod though.

Especially if you include the inaccuracy involved, or lack there of, I think it would anger more players than it would entertain.

Actually, thanks to rifled barrels, Civil War era guns were quite accurate and could kill at a half-mile, but Generals were use March-up-to-100-yards-away-and-let-loose-a-volley tactics, one of the reasons so many people died in that war, but your point would definatly come into play if they made a BF1776 game. I think it'd be cooler for them to make a BF1500 game, medieval times.

There's also a pirate mod with drivable ships of various sizes as well as cannon, guns of all types and of course swordplay. I saw it reviewed in PCGamer but I haven't played it yet.

Its pretty good. A nice departure from the normal World War warfare.

Well apparently there is a Civil War mod in the works for BF1942; BF1861.

In my last post on the subject, I said how this era would not work that well due to lack of vehicles. But from the looks of the screenshot below, I guess I was wrong.

You could also use the cupply wagons. Also, didn't they have armoured trains on the union side to combat southern raiders?
