Since BF1942 hit the stores, tons of modifications have been released. These mods have you doing everything from battling pirates to fighting on other planets.

One mod that I have found to be well worth the download is Forgotten Hope. This mod adds tons of new weapons, maps, and vehicles, with the goal of making BF1942 as historically accurate as possible. The physics of the game have also been changed in order to add to the realism. For example, the recoil of the weapons is more realistic (now when you fire a BAR you no longer get the recoil of a sub-machine gun), the flight physics have been made more accurate, and the damage weapons inflict is much more realistic. Forgotten Hope is also filled with new maps such as Saipan, Crete, Adak Island, and several Eastern Front Battles that were not part of BF1942. Forgotten Hope also improves several of the original BF1942 maps, such as Iwo Jima and Omaha beach.

If you do decide to download forgotten hope, I would recommend you download it from this site: ftp://big-war.com/pub/FH/

There are two parts of the mod and then a patch. You must download them in the correct order. Also, if you downloaded the previous version of FH, 0.5, make sure you delete it before you download the newer version.

Here is the order the files must be downloaded in. Make sure after you download each one, you install it before you start the next download.

First, download Forgotten Hope 0.6 Install 1 of 2
Second, download Forgotten Hope 0.6 Install 2 of 2
Third, download the Forgotten_Hope_0.6_to_0.61 patch

Version 0.62 is suppose to be released soon. Several new weapons, vehicles, and maps are to be included in it. I will be sure to keep you informed on any updates that are released.

Any other mods that you find enjoyable and worth downloading, be sure to share them with us here.

Battlefield: Pirates
http://www.bfpirates.com/
As the name implies, it is a mod for Bf: 1942 that turns it into a swashbuckling affair on the high seas and on land. It is a VERY fun mod. Vehicles consist of little rowboats, medium sized boats, giant galleons (I think that is then name), and balloons. You get a sword, pistol, and rifle type thing, also one grenade. Well designed maps to. v.3 is soon to be released.

Another good one, haven't played that much of the newer versions. It is a Star Wars mod, but as I haven't played it much, I can't say much. There are ground and space battles. I will post more personal experience once I get the it...

After installing FH I find myself rarely going back to BF1942 "Vanilla."

Experience WW2 is even better in the realism department but it is a major pain to find enough players and servers.

This list should help those of you who are looking for a good mod to download, but are worried you will be unable to find servers for it.

The 1918 mod just released a new version, info about it here
http://www.planetbattlefield.com/bf1942/tweakin/mods/bf1918/index.shtml
Includes a new weapon class, new weapons, new vehicles, all sorts of stuff.

Also, the Pirates mod has released patch .31
http://www.planetbattlefield.com/bf1942/tweakin/mods/Pirates/index.shtml
It adds a new map and bug fixes. If you don't have version .3 since it recently came out, you need the full install.

This appears to be an ongoing debate amongst the BF1918 team. According to there official website, if gas is to be included, it will not be an active weapon.

if the weather is clear? what the heck? :)

yeah, FH is a good mod. more weapons, more vehicles, more accurate than BF1942, fewer snipers, more player/vehicle skins, more maps, etc.

hope you like it!

He probably has satellite internet. With satellite internet if the weather is bad sometimes it can hurt internet performance.

I've been playing FH for a while now but I still haven't downloaded Experience WWII. I was just wondering, for those of you who have downloaded both, which one you would consider to be more realistic?
