Since BF1942 hit the stores, tons of modifications have been released. These mods have you doing everything from battling pirates to fighting on other planets.
One mod that I have found to be well worth the download is Forgotten Hope. This mod adds tons of new weapons, maps, and vehicles, with the goal of making BF1942 as historically accurate as possible. The physics of the game have also been changed in order to add to the realism. For example, the recoil of the weapons is more realistic (now when you fire a BAR you no longer get the recoil of a sub-machine gun), the flight physics have been made more accurate, and the damage weapons inflict is much more realistic. Forgotten Hope is also filled with new maps such as Saipan, Crete, Adak Island, and several Eastern Front Battles that were not part of BF1942. Forgotten Hope also improves several of the original BF1942 maps, such as Iwo Jima and Omaha beach.
If you do decide to download forgotten hope, I would recommend you download it from this site: ftp://big-war.com/pub/FH/
There are two parts of the mod and then a patch. You must download them in the correct order. Also, if you downloaded the previous version of FH, 0.5, make sure you delete it before you download the newer version.
Here is the order the files must be downloaded in. Make sure after you download each one, you install it before you start the next download.
First, download Forgotten Hope 0.6 Install 1 of 2
Second, download Forgotten Hope 0.6 Install 2 of 2
Third, download the Forgotten_Hope_0.6_to_0.61 patch
Version 0.62 is suppose to be released soon. Several new weapons, vehicles, and maps are to be included in it. I will be sure to keep you informed on any updates that are released.
Any other mods that you find enjoyable and worth downloading, be sure to share them with us here.
