View Full Version : PBEM Scenario, What Do You Want?
I would like some feedback from you on types of scenarios you like to see and play against human opponent.
Give some ideas you have not seen, give some ideas that have worked.
Currently i have several scenarios testing and most involve some sort of City. Now I want to move to rural areas, which leaves a lot to imangination, but I want to know what players want.
Does it need to be Historical?
Should TO&E stick to region or area of Battle?
Do you like attack against defense?
How big do maps need to be?
Do you want some prototypes in the early years?
How important is play balance?
Just want some feedback....
Thanks..
Just based on my limited experience:
I like any scenario that could have happened (semi-historical). Just because it wasn't written about doesn't mean it never happened. The East Front was a big chaotic place.
I would prefer seeing units stick to their historical locations where ever possible. But again on a tactical level who says that a few "rare" units weren't sent somewhere in a hurry (temporarily) to stop a surprise advance?
I prefer attacking over defending so far.
Maps- large enough so that the attacker has more than one option in making his advance to keep the defender guessing. Adds to the replay value.
Game Balance is a must. Whatever the scenario type both sides should be able to get a win if played well, not just "maybe" they can with excellent play. One side having an Overwhelming edge may be historical sometimes but makes for poor replay value.
When mainly armor vs armor is involved I like the cat and mouse type, a lot of terrain to hide behind and move around concealed in. Who can get the best tactical (terrain) position or move around unseen to get in a flank/rear shot. Anyone can shoot across a map, it's getting close in that I like. (The difference between hunting with a high powered rifle and a bow.)
What I do not like so far are "flat open" terrain assaults. Having to getting across them just to see what I have left to fight "the battle" with (once there) does not interest me. I would rather the designer just put me in the "battle position" with "X" units and go from there.
That's a dimes worth I hope. :D
Kerry :cheeky:
Mostly agree with Kerry.
I like totally balanced MEs.
Medium sized or a little larger then medium.
Modest hills but a little more then medium.
Medium trees but a little more then medium.
