Well check out who jumped about 5 people on the top-10 ladder to secure a spot there. Mantis knocked out a 350 turn game of Europe Aflame (with no AAR I might add!) and gained about 400 points for it!
Good work soldier. Now, someone wake up Jamiam again (he is underneath the bar stools), so he can have some brew with us as Shane is buying!

I was not under the bar stools! I was in the corner...less likely to be stepped on there.
Don't think you can get away with some of that Canadian beer, Mantis...I want whiskey!
Oh. And welcome...:cheeky:

My mistake. On closer inspection it is obviously not you under the bar stools...it is RICHARD! Those Aussies can really pack it away...but then sleep soundly for hours in the strangest places!
Now, has anyone seen Sapper? Where did he slither off to?
:hmmm:

Probably patiently waiting by his mail box for my BoL mirrored turns of Tobruk '41, which I've consistently dragged my heels on...;)
The man is a saint with the patience of Job.:halo:
Congrats Mantis on a job well done. When I'm in Edmonton next, the drinks are on you.
You got it, Tiger!
Thanx for the welcome, 's good to be here! A year without a single report, and then everything at once... That's what happens when you only play big scenarios!
I'd like to take a second to comment on the fact that everyone that's finished out a game with me has been a pleasure to compete with. I've never seen such a group of good natured people! Kudos to everyone at WHQ, this is one hell of a great place to be a member of the community at!

So are you :). You could be talking about yourself and the turn of Barbarossa 41 you're waiting on... Currently in the throes of the STAVKA Bureaucracy...
Congratulations Mantis!

Oh Gawd, James, you'll never see it now! Is this where the term Red tape came from? ;)
Congratulations Mantis!
Thanks.
Great work, 8-0-0, not even a draw!

Thank you!
But to my record I have many contributing factors:
- Great opponents speeding along my 'education' from newbie to vet (You know who you are! :hail: ),
- Helping other people in their education to become vets has also played a large part. Experience is a huge factor in this game!
- A great community that was not only willing to answer all my questions, but did so in an incredibly prompt and helpful manner.
- And Luck, of course, has been a big one! (I seem to have caught the Lady's eye as of late!)

Would that be her glass eye ??

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
My Congrats a well :hail:
But I'm working hard on making that perfect record of his drop to 8-1-0!:nofear:
It's still early on in EA, so it could take a few days to whip him!

I was not under a bar stool. It's not that aussies drink a lot- we just train on real beer- you americans and canadians drink some weak stuff
Jamiam has the right idea to go straight to the whiskey!
Congrats

LOL, my mistake! Well who the hell is that under the bar stool then? :hmmm:
I don't drink American swill...I try to stick to Guiness and other thick imported Stout beers whenever possible. Granted it's not as strong as if it were coming out of the tapper in Dublin...but still a fine product. I grew up in the hometown of Budweiser, and live in the hometown of Coors, so the advertising blitz telling me to drink that crap is like second nature...but I have turned away from the dark side :clown:

I figured that must have been ME ...:alien:  :D
But not due to my drunkness, instead, I was too tired, so simply fell asleep there :bored:
... haha...
Congratulations, commander Mantis!:clown:

Weak stuff? I didn't see anything overwhelmingly powerful when I was in Aus... What % is your favorite beer? Maybe things have changed, or I lived a sheltered life when I was there!

Yech!
Could you slice me a slab of Guiness, please? :D
(Now I know why some women don't like to swallow... Oh hell, can I say that in here? :dead: )
I find the lagers and pale ales more to my taste. Rickards Red isn't too bad, and we have some great local brew; Scona (Strathcona) Ale is quite famous, and damned good... We go through about a zillion kegs of it when Edmonton has the Fringe Festival. Hmmm, people come from all over the world for the Fringe, (over 100000 last year) perhaps if any of you ever con the wife/GF into it as a cultural vacation, I could meet up with someone! lol!

Thanx, ER!
Under normal circumstances, I'd swear it was me down there, but they wouldn't let me into this place until the day before last!
But watch out, I'll wear a groove in the floor that seems to match my face in no time, I promise!

Try "Bundeburg" rum. I'm not sure I spelled it right, but just the memory of it has me slurring my speech. JC- you could run your car on that stuff!
Our beers are usually round 4 to 5% alchohol.
American beers when I was there seemed somewhat weaker. I was younger then though
Budaberg Rum is indeed a killer. Most spirits brewed in australia are restricted in alchohol content to about 37.5% I think from memory. Bundie as it is known is at the maximum.
It's all a matter of taste. I am told some people love macdonalds- but I can't see what they see in it.
Have a good one

I heard that too! Funny that they are so popular when they taste so horrible. Hell, it has been since 1995 since I went into a McDonalds for a burger. One day I realized how bad they were and never went back.
It is a shame it represents American culture all around the world

LoL ... not really, Gen. HEAT, not really. :D
burgers are not banquet fashion food for sure. But it has its own edges: convenient, fast ... and ... powerful :D ---- during my grad. student years, it had been my daily meals (mostly due to the cheap price of a big mac meal: 50c less than the cheapest Chinese fast food I could find and last much longer... :D) --- even until now, once a while, I would like to taste a bite, like in a month or something. It is not a "dress up" dinner, but surely a fun diversity. Also as a matter of fact, McDonalds are extremely popular in China, esp. to the kids ---- who always hate the long and complex traditional chinese food ---- and now they get what they want: something you can hold in one hand and eat with multi flavor tastes and at the same time, the other spared hand can play video games
Of course, people make fun about burgers as the sign of american "food culture". ... but mostly those jokes are friendly: on one hand, fast food is a good representation of the fast pace and efficiency in American life style. And on the other hand, one of the signature of "American" culture is her diversity, just like in NYC, we have all kinds of food from all over the world (even Kabul, there is a famous resturant in this name in manhatten) ---- those with long history, those with noble style, those with exotic tastes... all kinds ---- of course also including burgers (and with a piano player in McDonald, isn't that some interesting fun combo? :) ).
secretly, maybe there is only one pity, ..... I kinda missing dog meat ..... :alien: :devious: :dead:

The average here for beer is 5-6%, with things like Great Western Gold going to 8.1%. Draught can be stronger. The typical for spirits in Canada is 40%, but we have overproof rum/vodka/rye, etc from 50 - 60%. Hey, any of you Eastern Canadians ever try Screech? Now THAT is nasty!
As to American booze:
What do American beer and sex in a canoe have in common?
It's fu˘*ing close to water!! ;)
Ah yes, Screech.
The nectar of Newfoundland. But you have to kiss a cod to drink it.
You've got that all wrong.
You kiss the cod afterwards, to kill the taste!
