I can't seem to get this game to run under XP. I ahve tried all the patches and the compatibility mode but nothing works. There is NO support for it from anywhere (that I can find).
Does anyone have a suggestion or do I file this with the long list of my games that XP hates. I should have kept my old system for all of them....list is long.
A little of topic but can anyone run Age of Rifles under XP either?:crosseye:
Thanx.

Seearch on Damn CD-ROM for a thread with a possible fix. Hope this helps.
the 'Damn CD-ROM' thread is for Century of Warfare, not TOAW2. It might help to get rid of the copy protection because that might be the problem but there is no unwrapped .exe for TOAW2 available as far as I know. If you know how to find the unwrapping program (google will help) you can unprap your .exes yourself.

You're absolutely right and thanks for pointing this out. Sorry if I confused anyone.
Actually it's a thread called “Help needed“ in the case of non-ACOW versions of the game where you need to create an unwrapped EXE using UnSafeDisc. It worked for me for TOAW I so see no reason it won’t work for later (TOAWII, WOTY) version if you sub TOAW X for TOAW in instrux.
Use 'Unsafediscv1.5.5' (at http://go.to/gamefix ) to remove the SafeDisc copy protection on both OPART files using instrux below (CW uses SafeDisc 1.5.xx so that's the corresponding UnSafeDisc- don't try with any other versions).
With dplayerx.dll, opart.exe, opart300.exe, opart.icd, opart300.icd files in the new directory- in my case C:\Program Files\TalonSoft\TOAW\CD\, run the UnSafeDisk program from another (different) directory.
The UnSafeDisk procedure created a file called Testfile.exe when I processed OPART.ICD. I renamed this OPART.EXE AFTER deleting the original OPART.EXE in the new directory. Then when I processed OPART300.ICD I got the same file again (Testfile.exe). Renaming this to OPART300.EXE (again, after deleting the original OPART300.EXE) I then copied the whole lot back to the TOAW directory.
Then I made the registry change cd_path=X:\TOAW\ (where X is your CD drive location (c maybe?)) to C:\Program Files\TalonSoft\TOAW\CD\ for example (the new folder is CD in the TOAW folder) and put the small empty file (TOAWintro.smk) into the CD folder.
If anyone has problems with this let me know and I'll try to help as I've run at least one person through this over MSN Messenger.
