I need a few playtesters for a large USSR-US scenario set in 1988 (beta stage).

Scale is 20km/hex, division/bde level, ~ 60 turns. Map covers Europe, Middle East and Persian Gulf and a smaller area of the Korean peninsula and North Pacific theater.
Over 1000 units per side, lots of Theater Options etc.

If you are interested, send me an e-mail (Haris_R@yahoo.com) or respond on this message board.

Many Thanks

Presumably this Far Eastern bit is off in the corner of the map somewhere. Considering the importance of air power in modern war, I hope you'll at least think about the problems that might ensue if air units from the one theatre can reach the other.

I will help playtesting also I have to admit that I havn't played too much scenarios with modern equipment.

I wouldn't mind giving it a whirl myself.

Excellent point. I've struggled with this and solicited the input of other designers (on TDG and WarfareHQ) in several posts. I have not found a good way to separate the two theaters as far as air missions are concerned. I've tried several solutions (some worked better than others). I even took it out all together in one version.
Finally I did what you said, i.e. put the Far Eastern bit in the corner of the map and placed airfields in a way to maximize its distance from the other theater. Not to my liking but...

If you have a good solution I am very interested.
Thanks

I know many people have an issue with houserules, but have you considered making the Asian theatre air units part of a seperate, distictly colored formation, to make it very noticeable that they differ from their European counterparts?

Would make a houserule simply a single line in the briefing:

"The Yellow air units represent the Asian theatre air assets, and must be left in their home region."

Very good idea, which I did try to implement, well...sort of.

I also set the level of cooperation accordingly and did ask players to refrain from carrying out attacks between the two theaters as an optional house rule (I wanted to have as few house rules as possible. The scenario could be played with one house rule only).

Fortunately the Pacific/Korean theater borders the eastern USSR and eastern Iran/Afghanistan region. There are, thankfully, not that many high-priority targets to attack in that area that are within the range of most planes. In addition, the strong European, US, and USSR, air forces/units are deployed too far away to attack Korea or Japan.

Of course, nothing prevents a player from deliberately redeploying his air units.

The bigger problem comes from random Air superiority combat that happens at the start of the turn and random interdiction missions. I see units from different places taking part in the Air superiority battles that simply should not be there (in terms of range). I don't have a solution for that. I just lived with it.

Yeah. For combat support at least the co-operation levels should prevent excessive interaction between the different sectors.
