It appears the Close Combat Marine may be available to the gaming public. We're not sure yet as details are still incomplete. This was posted earlier on the CSO forums:

That's right folks.........CCM. Of course, it may be a bit hard for some of youse to get a hold of..........so get to know your local jarhead or whomever else (besides moi) has a subscription to the Marine Corps Gazette (much better than Leatherneck IMHO) to get a look.

Some of the highlights. Ability to play in 3 v 1, 3 v 2, or 3 v 3. In battle resupply. Helicopter strikes. Mounting your squad in a 5 ton, Humvee or LPTV. Complete mortar sections. About 1k by 1k maps. Hidden VLs. Mucho stuff....

More details from the Gazette website.

There are some interesting screenshots posted there as well. If anyone has more information on this -- or better yet has already aquired a copy -- please post more information in this thread.

It appears that the CD is available along with an issue of the Marine Corps Gazette. This is from the gazette home page:

You may subscribe to the Marine Corps Gazette by becoming a member of the Marine Corps Association (MCA). Membership in MCA includes a subscription to the magazine of your choice (either Gazette or Leatherneck).
Membership in MCA is open to all active duty, Reserve, retired, and honorably discharged Marines. In addition, civilians, businesses, and institutions that are not eligible for membership may still subscribe to Gazette and/or Leatherneck magazines (officer rates apply). Click on the “Subscribe Now” button to the right and complete the online form. (Be sure to select “Subscriber” in the “Branch” drop-down menu.) It's that simple!

It looks to me as if it is available to the public via the Marine Corps Gazette, and you need not be military to subscribe to that.

I found this stuff through Battlefront and Matrix Games postings of Vic as well.

It is possible it will not get much further than an inclusion of a specific issue and not see public circulation (if my examination and searching is any indication).

Time to find a friendly marine quick:)

Won't allow you to subscribe outside the USA. Bummer.

This game sadly, is, was, and likely will remain, a special treat meant for the marines, and probably won't be appearing on non marine computers any time soon.

Oh well, off to enjoy something I actually CAN have :)

Well being a former Marine, I will be getting my copy in a week or two and I was told that the CCM will only be in September's issue only.

So for you former Marines that gets the Marine Gazette, let me know and will hook up for a game or two :D

I have a feeling that somehow this game will get a world wide release.

Also is this just a MOD or is it a whole new game?

All the Marines I know are in Iraq. Have to ask one of them when they get back.
