Indochina covers the war that the French fought against the Viet Minh, in what is now the Vietnam, from 1946 until 1954. In this war, the communist led Viet Minh defeated the French forces and set the stage for the later wars in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodja. This game begins in the 13th of January of 1951, in the first part of the conventional war phase, in which Giap felt that he could defeat the French militarily. With his new, Chinese equipped and trained, Infantry Divisions he decided to assault directly at Hanoi, therefore hoping to aim a straight and final blow at the French before the feared American aid started to arrive en-force to the French. On the other side the French where by now very different from what Giap was used to, Gen. de Lattre reorganized the army creating new Mobile Groups and built the new "de Lattre line", a set of strong points around the Red River Delta, plus he was also increasing the home armies of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodja... For the French a draw means defeat, they only win if they destroy the Viet Minh with a major victory.
